Judas figured if it worked once, it could work again. False religion is any attempt to duplicate the works of God by rituals or formulas.
Actually, the Bible didn't say that Judas went out and fished for coins. Being the holder of the money bag who often helped himself to the money, doesn't this seem like something he would try?
What Judas needed (and never achieved) was a trusting, intimate relationship with Jesus. That's what we all need.That's the only way we can see the hand of God moving in our own life.
